Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #18

It's Friday and I am so excited to share with you Taylor's newest Cupcake Challenge. I really love this sketch because it allows for a fun and clean card. I combined it with a very special cupcake stamp. This image is the new, yet to be released, mini from My Favorite Things. I got permission from Kim to post it a little early just this once. (FYI she is having a huge blog candy giveaway so make sure to entry!) This set along with tons of other new sets will be available online June 4th. Previews will begin on Monday so keep your eyes open. This release is the most exciting one yet!! Anywho back to the challenge. I wanted to go with a clean and crisp French Bakery feel. Light pastels came to mind so I went with the new PTI Lavender card stock along with SU Orchid and Pretty in Pink. The perfect match to the card stock was some Memory Box "Sprout" patterned paper. It is so soft and sweet! To complete the card I added a bloom from Mike's and PTI satin ribbon in Spring Moss. So if you want to participate in Taylor's challenge here are all the details you need to know.

1.You're not required to use cupcakes for the challenge, but if you got 'em why not use 'em!? :)
2.You're welcome to create something other than a card, just stick as closely to the sketch as possible and you'll be eligible for the prize drawing!
3.If you're uploading to Splitcoast use keyword TECC18 (for Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge 17 or link your creation on this post.
4.Each week, I plan to have a Featured Cupcake Sampler! The cutest and most creative sample from the previous week will receive the featured cupcake sampler honors. The winner will receive the sketch ahead of time in order to create a card that will be featured along with a link to your blog on Cupcake Friday!
5.Featured Cupcake Sampler this week is Carol from Happiness Blooms!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

So I am a little late but I got my card done for this month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. I love this idea. I think it's so much fun to see all the different ideas stemming from one challenge. This month's was a first for me. I have seen so many beautiful cards using the scoring technique but I had never tried it myself. I HEART my Scor-Pal so it was long overdue that I try out this technique. I went with a subtle scoring detail. I mimicked the scored pattern on the card base and the white main image. I also combined it with my new Papertrey Ink "Honey Bees" set. I have a thing for bee stamps. I don't know what it is but I love them. Well I am going to keep this short since I have some blog hopping to do!

We just hung out and relaxed and Josh went down an inflatable water slide about 100 times!! He had a blast. Cupcake Friday Surprise!

Yay it's Friday and that means the holiday weekend has started and I can finally share some fun and exciting news! A few weeks ago the SUPER talented and my stamping IDOL Taylor VanBruggen from Taylored Expressions emailed me asking if I would like to part of her cupcake sampling team. Of course I said YES! I mean what an honor to have one of my humble samples linked on her cupcake Friday sketch challenge. So for this Friday's sketch I decided to dust off one of my Whipper Snapper cupcake images. This was my first WS stamp I bought and the one that got me hooked on them. I adore their cute images. I started by coloring in the image with my Copics. I then added some stickles to the sprinkles and hat. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's "Year Round Puns" set. The card stock and ribbon is also PTI in Berry Sorbet. The patterned paper is from SEI's Jolie Chocolat collection. (I love that stuff) Well that is all I have for today. Have a great holiday weekend and remember that if you want to play along in Taylor's Cupcake Challenge just link your creation on her post or on SCS using the keyword TECC17. Also, if you want more eye candy featuring the rest of the Cupcake team visit these super talented ladies blogs.

Another Unity and some explaining :)

Hi all! Sorry for the lack of posts this week. I do have cards to share but no time to post. Boo! Josh just started swimming lessons and its been sorta hectic. He is not to crazy about them so I have been trying to go to the neighborhood pool to continue the lessons he learned. He does get in the water and doesn't cry but, the problem is he just holds on to you and won't let go. Any tips would be great! I really want him to learn since my MIL has a beach house and I am always terrified that he will fall into the pier when we go.Anyhoo back to stamping. How about another Unity card? I must admit that this train was my breaking point when I first saw Unity stamps. Since I have a little boy I am always drawn to boyish toy stamps. This one from Unity was so going to be mine! So I bought it :) It's from the "Sweet Baby Boy" set. I combined it with this week's SCS sketch challenge. I flipped the layout to accommidate the image. I colored the train in with my Copics and added some stickles to some areas for sparkle. The wheels are cut out and placed on dimensions for added depth. I also put some crystal effects and dew drops on them. I used my long rectangular nesties to frame the image. I decided to name this card the "Number Train" so I had to add some numbered cuttlebugged paper. I used the numbers collage on SU Bayou card stock. The brad is from Target's dollar spot and the ribbon is SU. To complete the card I did some faux stitching with my white gel pen. So that is all I have today but make sure to come back tomorrow since I have a special card and some exciting news!

TCP Tuesday

Hi All! Today is Tuesday so that means another TCP challenge. Today's Hipster Hostess with the Mostess is none other than Ms. Carole!! I love her challenges because she always makes me think outside the box. She has an inspirational challenge today. She wants us to create a card with a sitcom as the inspiration! Yep, that's right...a sitcom! I had to think about this one a bit but once I figured it out it was simple. My sitcom is Gilligan's Island :) Can you guess which cast away I picked as my inspiration. If you guessed Ginger Grant you are right! She was the movie star that always had the glamorous hut and fancy gowns. She was my favorite when I watched the show. Since she is so high fashion I went with tons of pink and glitter. I might have gone overboard (LOL) but I guess that's what Ginger was all about. So if you want to play along here are the rules for TCP Tuesday.

1. Each a week one of the The Cat’s Pajamas DT members will host a challenge.
2. The challenges will vary {stamp, color, theme, sketch, etc.}
3. You will have until {this} Saturday night to complete the challenge.
4. Link your project on this week’s hostess’ challenge announcement. This week you will link your project HERE.

7. When uploading to SCS, please use the keyword TCPTUES07 for this challenge.
8. Alma will post the entries from the week the following Monday on her blog.

Unity Stamps Thursday

If you are a member or visitor of SCS then you recently noticed that this great company called Unity Stamps has jumped on board as a SCS Company Member! I first heard of this revolutionary company a bit before winter CHA started. I instantly fell in love with their images and mounting system. But I didn't purchase any stamps until they joined SCS. So my reaction to the stamps was WOW! They are high quality and super huge. I was shocked and excited by their size and since I love to color these are my type of stamps. I started with two sets called "Right on Target" and "Sweet Baby Boy". Since I have two boys at home (hubby and DS) I am always drawn to great boyish or masculine sets. Great masculine sets are always hard to find so I knew I had to have the fishing/hunting set. The first example was made with the "Right on Target" set. I combined it with this week's SCS sketch challenge. I stamped the grass with SU Artichoke ink and cut it out with my exacto knife. I then added some crystal effects to the grass to make it look realistic. Patterned paper is from Basic Grey "Infuse" collection. I adhered it to the card with 3d glue dots. DH really like how this card came out. The second card features the baby set. I took my color combo from the Crate Paper "Birdie" collection. I used those colors to color in the baby outfit. The sentiment is stamped on acetate paper using Black Stazon ink. I attached it to the card with some SU brads. The last bit of detail I added was some baby epoxy stickers from Target's dollar spot. Well that is all for today but I hope I have inspired you to check this great company out. Their products are really amazing and super FUN!

Bella Wednesday

Today I have a fun Bella card to share with you. When I first saw this motorcycle Bella I knew I had to have it. I had recently bought some vehicle charms from Micheal's so I thought they would go perfectly. I started by coloring the image in with my trusty Copics. I added some stickles to some parts as well as some crystal effects to make it appear like shinny metal. I hung the charm from some SU wide grosgrain ribbon. The arrows are part of the patterned paper pack I used. It is from Scenic Route's "Loveland" collection. The sentiment is from Verve Visual. I did a row of paper piercing under the sentiment and highlighted "amaze" with my pink Copic.

I also bought Savvyshoppabella and Lattebella. I am going to try and ink those up today. I will post some more if I get them done.

Bloomin' Monday

Hi All!! Hope all the mothers had a FABULOUS Mother's Day. Mine was low key but so nice. We order some yummy food and watched movies with the boys. It was nice. Anyhoo, today I have a bloomin' card to share. I features the most beautiful Stargazer Lily from Starving Artistamps. I simply fell in love when I first saw it. (Stargazers are one of my favorite flowers.) I wanted to make the flower look 3D ,or as if it was growing out of the card, so when I finished coloring it in with my Copics I used an exacto knife to cut it out. Then I curled the edges and glued the center onto white card stock. Once the glue was dry I continued to curl the petals until they where just right. Lastly, I added some stickles on the petals. I really like how it turned out. The patterned paper is from SEI's "Jolie Chocolat" collection. I also used my cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder to give more texture to the card. I finished the card by added some beautiful pink dew drops. I really think they complete the card. Well that is all for today but tomorrow is TCP Tuesday so you won't want to miss it!

Billy Boy Friday

Wow... it's Friday Baby!! I can't wait until the weekend. Today I have a super cute card to share. I was first introduced to this company by the stamping genius that is Lauren Meader. She made the cutest little nurse project! I was hooked immediately but waited to order since the budget was tight. Then I saw my good friend Kirsten make the cutest princess set and I just broke down and bought the Billy and Lily sets from Pink Cat Studio! Needless to say I am a WIMP when it comes to cute stamps. (Just don't tell the hubby!) Anyhow today Billy is making his appearance. I colored him in and then added some crystal effects to the froggy. I wanted him to look like he was slimy *yucko*. Next I went looking for the perfect patterned paper. I found this cute striped piece from the Scenic Route collection but couldn't find a contrasting piece. So I made my own! I started with some Kraft card stock and punched out some circles in various sizes. I used SU red, Olive, and Tempting Turquoise. I glued them on including some coming off the paper edge. I then flipped the card stock and using an Exacto knife I trimmed the overlapping circles. I finished it off with some paper piercing. I really like how it turned out :)
That's all for today but tomorrow brings a special Mother's Day card dedicated to all the mommies of the world...and especially my blog readers!

MFTeaser Release Day

The new MFT sets have official gone live as of yesterday night! So to celebrate the launch of the new sets I have some more MFTeasers to share. The first one is a card made with the super adorable dog set called "Gone to the Dogs". I used my ubberly yummy Basic Grey "Sultry" paper for a jumbo prima bloom. I really wanted to make the dog pop so that the image looked 3D. To achieve that look I cut out the lab and placed him on glue dots. I also wanted to do some paper piecing on the girl's dress. Again the paper is from the BG Sultry collection. The sentiment is from MFT's Essential sentiments. The second card is from the traveling set also release yesterday. Its called "Going Places" and it supah cute. I picked the skyline and colored it in with my Copics. But to make it even more exciting I added some SU crystal effects. It looks like the buildings are made of glass. The airplane was cut out and placed on 3d glue dots. I also did a trail of paper piercing in a loopy loop formation. I also cut out the airplane flag and tied some May Arts ribbon to it. I really like the way it turned out. Last but not least I have another project using my cup template that I share with you earlier this month. If you want the template click HERE. I tried to make it look like a dog collar. I used some SU twill and punched some holes with my Crop-a-dile and added some eyelets. I also ran it through some hardware. The dog tag image is from the MFT mini called "Friends Furever". I placed my doggies initials on the tag and hung it to the hardware with some copper twill. I also punched out some circles in the same color as the cup card stock. I glued the dots around the rim and handle for some subtle embellishments. I filled the cup with my doggies favorite beef jerky treats. They love it! Well that is all for today but I have some more cards for you tomorrow. Don't forget to go to the MFT site and check out all the new sets.
Hugs,

MFTeasers

Today is the day that My Favorite Things will release three new sets! They are so fun. I have been busy making lots of samples using these sets to share with you. I have cards and projects made. I am going to show you half of them today and the rest tomorrow so make sure to check back. The first project I have is a fun little doggie treat tin. I took one of those metal tins and added some dog bones inside. I used the new mini of the month on it also. This set is called "Friends Furever" and it features a cute little boy and his big doggie friend. I also has a dog tag and some fun sentiments. The sentiment on the tin is stamped in white Stazon ink. The second example is a card using the new traveling set called "Going Places". This set has tons of fun traveling images like an airplane, city skyline, luggage, and lots of cute sentiments. In this card I wanted to make it 3D so I cut out the map and places it on glue dots. I paper pieced her dress with some new Basic Grey "Sultry" patterned paper. I colored the rest in with my Copics. I also pulled out my cuttlebug and embossed some Kraft card stock with my Swiss Dots embossing folder. The brad is from Target's dollar spot. The last project is a cute little floral frame using both the "Friends Furever" and "Gone to the Dogs" set. "Gone to the Dogs" is a fun set that features tons of different dog breeds. This is a great set since I have three dogs and I am a loyal doggie lover. I used the bulldog image for this project since I wanted to frame my cute baby Chloe girl. The frame is actually a card board frame from Target's dollar spot. (I only picked one up but am going today to get some more!) I covered the frame with some DCWV Pet Stack patterned paper. I also used a circular chipboard piece from Cosmo Cricket to create a different layer. The little dog tag is from the mini. I cut it out from some left over Kraft embossed paper from my "Going Places" card. I really like how this turned out. Well that is all I have for you today but I have tons more to share night at the release party and on my blog tomorrow.

BTW My Favorite Things is having a New Release Cocktail Party on Wednesday, May 7 from 9-11 p.m. Eastern time. Lots of fun is planned including finding out how YOU can be the next MFT Guest Designer. Head over to the MFT forum on to find out all the details and we hope to see you there on Wednesday night.

Clear Scraps Thursday

I recently got this adorable Clear Scraps album from Alma. She fell in love with them while at CHA and got some for us to play with. I was stooked to get the little train since it would be perfect to display my son's pictures. I was going to make a birthday album but then decided that I wanted to make a ultrasound album instead. I have always wanted to display all my ultrasound pictures in a cool way. So I went to work and came up with this little book. Accessories used are Making Memories Journaling pages, Heidi Swapp rhinestone words, prima flowers, dew drops, MM heart brads, SU brads, ribbon, and Crate Paper "Zoom" collection. I really like having all my dearly loved scans in one beautiful album. That's all I have for today since I am so busy finishing my SCS Arlington swap cards. The swap is on Saturday and I couldn't be more excited. I am going to meet so many of my "online" friends and fellow DT members. It's going to be a blast. I will take pictures and share them on Monday!
Hugs,
